General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM)

AT THE COMPLETION OF THE COURSE THE STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO:

  • Describe the broad concept of the fundamental principles of quality nursing care, and demonstrate skill in providing nursing care to people of all age groups based on principles of physical, biological and behavioral sciences in an institution or in a community setting.

  • Participate as a member of the health care team in promotive, preventive and restorative health care delivery system of the country.

  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and decision making abilities in various nursing situations.

  • Strive to emulate the divine physician, recognizing and serving Christ in the person of sick and needy.

  • Promote and protect the economic, general and professional welfare of nurses and to raise the standards of nursing as a profession.

  • Demonstrate the skill in critical thinking and the nursing process as bases for clinical decision making.

  • Recognize responsibility for maintaining competence as a registered nurse through self evaluation and continuing nursing education..


Admission is open only to unmarried women

  • 10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 45% at the qualifying examination and English individually from any recognized board. Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School [NIOS] recognized by Central Government. However Science is preferable.
  • 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational Stream Health Care Sciences from a recognized CBSE Board / State/ Centre.
  • For Foreign Nationals: The entry qualification equivalency i.e. 12th standard will be obtained by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi Institution, State Nursing Council will be responsible to ensure that the qualification and eligibility will be equivalent to what has been prescribed as above.
  • 5% of total marks is relaxed for SC/ST.
  • Age 17Yrs to be completed by December-2020.
  • Gnm Applicant must not be more than 35 years of age.

  • SSLC
  • XII Marks card / Certificates [For CBSE students]
  • Transfer certificate
  • Migration Certificate [Outside Karnataka students only]
  • Permanent residential proof / RC Book [ Xerox copy] should be submitted by the Tibetan students
  • Aadhar Card
  • Eligibility Certificate to be submitted on the day of joining the College which is compulsory for the Admission in Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences

Hostel is compulsory for all the students.

The General Nursing and Midwifery program prepares the nursing aspirants through three years focusing on the quality patient care.The course enables them to become efficient members of the health team.
