The Basic B.Sc Nursing course at St. Philomena’s College of Nursing is a comprehensive undergraduate program designed to prepare students for successful careers in the nursing profession. The curriculum covers various subjects, including medical-surgical nursing, community health nursing, paediatric nursing, obstetrics, and gynaecology. Students are provided with a strong foundation in nursing theory, practice, and critical thinking skills, enabling them to excel in diverse healthcare environments.

At The Completion Of The Course The Students Are Expected To:
• Describe the broad concept of the fundamental principles of quality nursing care, and demonstrate skill in providing nursing care to people of all age groups based on principles of physical, biological and behavioral sciences in an institution or in a community setting.
• Participate as a member of the health care team in promotive, preventive and restorative health care delivery system of the country.
• Demonstrate leadership qualities and decision making abilities in various nursing situations.
• Strive to emulate the divine physician, recognizing and serving Christ in the person of sick and needy.
• Promote and protect the economic, general and professional welfare of nurses and to raise the standards of nursing as a profession.
• Demonstrate the skill in critical thinking and the nursing process as bases for clinical decision making.
• Recognize responsibility for maintaining competence as a registered nurse through self evaluation and continuing nursing education.
Admission is open only to unmarried women
• The candidate should have completed not less than 17 years of age as on 31st December 2023.
• Possess the minimum educational qualification prescribed by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences , 10+2/II PUC with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and a sound knowledge in English is a must.
• Be physically and mentally sound.
• Possess the certificates and documents required in the application form for admission to the Course.
Admission Criteria 2024
• Minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST Karnataka state candidates) with Science subjects:Physics, Chemistry and Biology
• English is compulsory subject with 50% of marks.
• Age 17 yrs completed by December 2023.
• No Vocational Subjects.
• Submit the Original Certificates to confirm the Admissions.
• For NRI : The Entry qualification equivalency i.e 12th STD should be obtained from Association of Indian Universities- New Delhi.
